The Women Artists of the North East Library brings together research and donated material to form a cultural resource that contributes to the history of women artists working in the North East of England.
25 February 2023: New writing by Kate Sweeney with readings and a performance by Nicky Rushton. At Cobalt Studios as part of the WANE Library’s Writing Commission 2022.
24 September 2022: Two events in Middlesbrough launching Fiona Larkin’s new publication ‘Soft Power Soft Fictions’ part of our co-commission with MIMA.
4 August 2022: Open Library day and Reading Group with texts from The Hundreds by Kate Liston and Tess Denman-Cleaver, and Seventeen of Sixty-Eight by Ingrid Pollard.
May – August 2022: The Library will be at VARC researching legacies and local practitioners in Northumberland and the influence of the rural on women’s creative practice in the region.
January – May 2021: The Library is in residence researching video and film connected to the University with a focus on the legacy of Tamara Krikorian.
July – December 2021: The Library will be at MIMA learning about creative histories in the region, and connecting with artists and organisations in the Tees Valley.
